The 2017 race will be the 13th anniversary of this great event, set to launch from Crazy Horse Campground in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on February 12, 2017. Last year was a huge success, with over 50 race entries from 14 countries, this has become a world- class event. Manufacturers view this as one of the most prestigious events and set their goals each year to be the overall manufacturer champion, an honor which Kawasaki took home in both Runabout and Standup overall in 2015 and 2016. Each year the race is held in the memory of endurance racer Mark Hahn, who was instrumental in providing the momentum to keep endurance racing going strong and growing across the country before his untimely death during a PWC race in 2004. The “Team” format features two riders for runabout (sit down) boat teams and up to three riders for a stand-up craft. By Mark Gomez 2017 was kicked off to a great start with the Hydro-Turf and Hot Products partnership to title sponsor the 2017 Daytona Freeride. Due to the recent hurricane that pummeled the shores of Daytona Beach, the new venue’s beach loca- tion was moved just north of the Daytona Beach boardwalk. Friday set the standard for the weekend with sunshine all day, warm upper 70s temperature, and most of all, constant big clean surf! The 1/2 mile stretch of beach was double parked full of over 250 registered riders hitting the surf. Hot Products Preferred Dealer Chris Williams of JetManiac was onsite all weekend, having his ear to the ground as a rider who caters to all the needs of the riders from the top pros to the up and coming. He had all of his unique parts for sale, keeping skis running all weekend. Hot Products unsung industry hero Tom Perry tirelessly wrangled the support and logistics of multiple west coast companies to get them all packed up with products and booth goods to become a presence by 48 hour road trip transit in the TC Freeride Trailer. WORX Racing/DASA Kyle Kennedy and TC Freeride/ Rickter Representative Jericho Kaiser made the round trip effort this year to bring over TC Freeride, Rickter, RRP, Hot Products, Hydro-Turf, Skat-Trak, WORX, Dasa Racing, and Kommander Industries.
